The E.S.E. standard consists of a specially modified espresso machine and pre-packaged single servings of coffee, known as E.S.E. servings (shown in picture below)
The E.S.E. espresso machine has a specially-shaped extraction chamber, into which the E.S.E. serving fits perfectly. Together, they produce a superior cup of espresso.
In order to guarantee a consistent level of quality, specific technical parameters for such fundamental characteristics as water temperature and pressure have been developed. Each espresso machine prototype must adhere to these standards before permission to use the E.S.E. trademark is granted, and models already in production are periodically controlled to ensure that they continue to meet these requirements.
The E.S.E. serving is a pre-packaged individual portion of roasted, ground, and pressed coffee, sealed between two layers of filter paper.
It is specially-shaped to fit perfectly inside the extraction chamber of the E.S.E. espresso machine. The amount of coffee, its grind, and the degree to which it is pressed have all been specifically defined to ensure a perfect cup of espresso.
Besides guaranteeing a consistent level of quality, the E.S.E. standard is considerably cleaner than traditional methods of preparing espresso because there is no need to handle the coffee grounds.
Can you handle it?
E.S.E. is an innovative system designed to totally simplify the espresso coffee-making process. At home, in the office and anywhere, with the E.S.E. system you can truly savor the delicious, full-bodied flavor of superb espresso and that unmistakable aroma of a perfectly made cup of coffee. Perfection is within everyone's reach - but what about less expert hands?
It's easy! The E.S.E. System consists of E.S.E. espresso machines that were especially designed for E.S.E. servings (single servings with the E.S.E. trademark). These servings contain the right amount of ground coffee that is pressed between two sheets of filter paper. To enjoy its many advantages, just follow these five steps, which are simple as drinking an excellent cup of espresso.
1. Switch on the espresso coffee machine following the manifacturer's instructions. 2. Make sure that all machine parts (heating unit and filter holder) are well heated. 3. Place the E.S.E. serving in the filter holder. 4. Insert the filter holder into the special slot on the espresso machine. 5. Turn on the switch for about 20 seconds.
