The creator of the silver cutlery Cactus was undeniably a sculptor well acquainted with silver. The lines are simple and strong, and the stylised details of the cactus ornamentation clearly echo his meticulous sensitivity to the character of silver. A cutlery that lies between Art Déco’s penchant for striking decoration and Functionalism’s simplicity of form. Gundorph Albertus was educated as a sculptor, but was engaged at the Georg Jensen Silversmithy, where form 1916-1954, as production director, he remained a steadfast custodian of both Georg Jensen’s artistic ideals and his craftsmanship.
