Caravel represents Henning Koppel’s first cutlery design and was introduced at an exhibition held at the Danish Museum of Decorative Art in 1957. Destined to be a success, today the cutlery is exhibited in a wealth of museums the world over, because it is a prime exponent of the organic Scandinavian Design style developed in the 1950s.
In 1963 Henning Koppel received the prestigious German award ”Der goldene Löffel” (The Golden Spoon) for his silver cutlery. The international jury singled out his work because ”it brilliantly expresses functionalism, idiom and the working of materials”.
Henning Koppel (1918-1981) embarked upon his collaboration with the Georg Jensen Silversmithy at the age of 28. He was originally educated as a sculptor, a calling clearly reflected in his idiom.
Std. 5-Piece Place Setting includes: • Dinner Fork • Dinner Knife • Luncheon Fork • Desert Spoon • Tea Spoon
